Napirze
Napirze (On the Bank of the River) is implemented in the industrial city of Rustavi, which used to house 300 hectares of wild floodplain forest distinguished by its biodiversity (ex. otters that lived there until recently). In the 1990s, both Georgia and the city of Rustavi confronted significant challenges when economic and social difficulties compelled most residents to rely on the Mtkvari floodplain and its resources for survival. Back then, the consequences of the ecosystem destruction were not fully understood, and the city's overall harm remained unnoticed. Despite all this, restoration of the floodplain ecosystem is still possible. That's why we started the project Napirze. The idea for the project emerged three years ago when Data Tsintsadze and his friends decided to demolish the old garage and replace it with a nursery. Alongside the nursery, they created an urban garden where they have been working on the project for three years, welcoming guests from various parts of the world. The Napirze project aims to restore the floodplain of the Mtkvari River and thereby create an example that will educate and remind people of the importance of rivers and their ecosystems.
