Benedikt Hartl is an architect and founder of the German architecture studio Opposite Office. He studied architecture in Munich, Oslo and Daressalaam. After working for various architecture firms in Paris, Zurich and Munich, he found in 2017 his own (opposite) office, which is an activist architecture studio that works at the margins of reality and fiction. Opposite Office draws, writes, imagines and builds architectural stories and ideas that draw attention to social and ecological challenges of our time. Opposite Office is a politically and socially engaged practise that contributes with its projects to the question of how do we want to live together in the future. The work of Opposite Office has been awarded, published and exhibited extensively worldwide. Besides his work with Opposite Office, Benedikt Hartl teaches architecture at the Technical University of Munich and researches about lowcost und lowtech architecture.
